 OUR HUTCHES

All of our six hutches are five feet long, but the Deluxe hutches are six inches deeper making them ideal for bunnies as well as groups of piggies

Guinea Pig and rabbit accommodation is within our large shed in five foot hutches which are cleaned out daily. The shed has newly laid vinyl flooring so that it can be kept clean at all times, and a fox-proof wire door which is left open to allow lots of fresh air (obviouly closed at night though!)

Guinea pigs are kept on fleece bedding which is changed daily, and rabbits will be kept on "Safebed" (which is a veterinary recommended soft, shredded paper) . This combination minimises mite and dust problems associated with straw and shavings.

They will have toys and tunnels to play with in their hutches and fresh food, unlimited meadow hay and water daily.

They will have access to the garden in either a 5' x 3' outdoor run , or one of two 6' x 4' double height outdoor runs, with bunnies having access to one of two enormous 7' x 4' , double height all-weather runs for supervised play time - weather permitting. All runs have built in shelters, and will be equiped with tunnels, houses and -  in the case of bunnies - a football  & giant logs to play with. The two "all-weather" runs mean that bunnies in particular can be outside, even if it's showery and still stay clean and dry.

Your pets can be outside as little or often as you wish - just let us know what they would like. The runs are situated on their own lawn so that they have their own yummy things to eat as we  are currently growing a wild flower meadow in the garden which is full if pet friendly things for them to eat ( clover, dandelions, ox-eye daisy, cornflowers and corn marigold) so they're not bored with just grass to eat. And while our runs are fox-proof, we do not leave them outside if we are not here. After all, your pet's safety is a priority.

During cold weather we provide Snugglesafe heat pads for our visitors to snuggle up to - our piggies love them - and when it's hot they have Ice Pods to keep them cool.

All hutches are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before the next guests arrive. For this reason, arrival and departure days are charged for, as the disinfectant has to dry completely before the hutch can be used again.

Tortoises are kept in the house at night in a large cage filled with a sand and compost mix so that they can have a good dig. During the day they are outside either in their own purpose built tortoise area, or (when we are outside to watch them) roaming free around the garden - it's amazing just how far they wander!! They are never left outside if we are not here and are locked away securely over night.

We also accept small caged animals  and birds.  We ask that you provide their own cages to avoid disrupting them too much. They will be cleaned out regularly and fed and watered daily.

Any special requests are welcome, and we will try to fit in any requirements where possible. Please remember to mention these at the time of booking.

The photo was taken  6th Sept 09 when the new flooring was laid and also shows the fox-proof door at the end of the shed (wire goes all the way to the floor, but the bottom section of the door also has a wooden panel to prevent draughts).

Our new bunny runs (below) have been custom built for me (July 2010 They are seven and a half feet long and six feet high so that we can get in and play with the bunnies, and they have lots of room to run about and dig. They are predator proof, escape proof and can be used all year round, so no need for bunnies to be shut inside, no matter what the weather
